During the summer of 2024, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco unveiled the blockbuster exhibition Turner, the Sublime Legacy, in collaboration with Tate.
Featuring a collection of prominent works within an innovative scenography spanning over 2,000 m², the exhibition invited visitors on a journey through the sublime depictions of Joseph Mallord William Turner's world, from his landscapes to his elemental explorations of light and atmosphere, where he was both a pioneer and a master.
Turner's decisive influence on painting, and by extension his legacy, was highlighted throughout the exhibition, in dialogue with around thirty works by major modern and contemporary artists, including John Akomfrah, Olafur Eliasson, Richard Long, Cornelia Parker, Katie Paterson, Mark Rothko, and Jessica Warboys.
Curated by Elizabeth Brooke, Curatorial Projects Officer at Tate, this exhibition was organised in collaboration with Tate and supported by CMB MONACO, SOTHEBY’S, and the GROUPE MARZOCCO.
