Alain Melkonian, Building Director since October 2012, chose to see through his mandate until the completion of the Grimaldi Forum’s extension as part of Monaco’s ambitious offshore expansion project, before entering retirement. Mission accomplished! For thirteen years, he ensured the operation of Monaco’s premier cultural and congress center, meticulously planning, organizing, leading, monitoring, and evaluating every facet of building maintenance and development. He also oversaw all service provisions on-site and played an active role during events, handling operations within his area of expertise.
He is now succeeded by Christophe Uhring, who brings with him eighteen years of experience as a Senior Project Manager at Monaco’s Department of Public Works. In this role, he managed state-level infrastructure and public facility projects as lead contracting authority. Christophe Uhring is no stranger to the Grimaldi Forum; he was closely involved in overseeing the venue’s major extension — a decade-long undertaking of considerable scale and complexity.
Thanks to this expansion, the Grimaldi Forum now boasts an additional 6,000 square meters — representing a 50% increase in modular space — along with 2,000 square meters of outdoor areas. This brings the total footprint of the building under Christophe Uhring’s stewardship to 85,000 square meters — a powerful asset that further enhances the Principality’s international appeal.
